Took a test ride on a Rocket GT. I can see it making a great touring bike because of the Seat and handlebars and it is one of the smoothest bikes I've ridden. But there iare some big buts, my short legs were not long enough for the forward pegs and at speed the wind felt like it was trying to push my feet off the pegs. The tank Splade my my legs out like I am riding a Horse. Way too heavy but it handles winding lanes brilliantly.
Before anyone says you can get the pegs changed from the non GT bike. I did try the non GT bike and found the pegs and seating position very cramped. This was similar to the R18.
So this one is out.
Trust me I am a retired Doctor and lecturer at Oxford University of Structural and Mechanical/Electrical engineering.

Before I get out on it,I've got to buy all new gear due to me weight loss, that is going to be painfull.
Next it was time to knock up a cover thingy for the onions, garlic and spuds I'm growing with me 3yo granddaughter. Never grown anything before and I don't think she has, should be interesting.

I know what you mean… I lost 1.5st on my wife’s low cholesterol diet after her blood test came back super-high.
I’d just bought a Klim Marrakesh suit and had to replace with a smaller size, fortunately a mate bought it but I still took a hit. I now neither have a shirt or pair of trousers that fit me properly either, and tomorrow I’m off to Hideout leathers in Essex to get my leathers altered too!

Well impressed with your growing frame and tubs

Today we went up to Hideout Leather at Ashdon in Essex to get my leather (racing?) jeans sized down to fit me after shedding a bit of blubber!

Horrible 2.5hr mostly-motorway drive up there with a lovely few miles of twisty C roads near the end. Hideout is aptly named, it’s a repurposed block of stables out in the sticks a few miles from the quaint town of Saffron Walden, all tiny alleyways and quite pretty, but lunch prices were a bit heavy as it’s a bit of a tourist trap.

But back to Hideout - really good service, and nice friendly people who instill confidence in their work. The pants will be done in a few weeks, it being busy season of course, slimmed down to size with additional hip armour and some mods which came in at £195, which considering I was looking at more than that for an off-the-peg pair of pants which didn’t come close to fitting properly is pretty near perfect in my book.

Let’s see how they come out, but first impressions were very good.

Booked our travel ins with Nationwide Flexplus, cheaper than last year because they’ve changed insurance provider from UK Ins to Aviva, who don’t charge extra for being an old fart and charge less for medical history.
There is also no restrictions on motorcycle use, only that you have a licence for that group and wear a crash helmet.
