Carpuride system

Got any questions about the BMW's R1200RT/R1250RT's onboard audio, Bluetooth or the Electrical system?

Carpuride system

Post by Fourbears »

I’m looking at the Carpuride W502 or 702 for my RT as it has Apple Carplay and is designed for bikes. They do an adapter so it can be fitted to the OE sat nav bracket but has anyone done this? Does the W702 with the 7” screen fit or is the W502 better? Any views either way!

Also interested after just completing another trip with the Nav 6. I think the 502 would be ok, but I would imagine the phone would have to be on charge during it - might as well just use Google Maps on the phone in that case?

2013 RT TC. Works well and adjusted so as not to obstruct instrument dials. No idea re later bikes but there is a facebook group.

The 702 won’t fit the LC as the bracket is too short so the unit fouls the dash. Not sure about the 502 but if it’s a similar size to a Zumo XT it should fit. I’m undecided whether to get a Carpuride which is likely to work better than a stand alone sat nav as it has CarPlay but relies on a mobile signal.

Yep the 702 does NOT fit a 2018 1200. I'm now waiting to 'test' Carpuride returns/refund policy!!

I do have Quadlock phone mounts on both bikes, BUT am very reluctant to use with my newer phone. My iPhone XR's camera was knackered even though I had the vibration dampener installed.

My Nav 6 is once again playing up - usual screen freeze, ghosting, lil m bike man icon wandering all over the effing place. This is is the 2nd unit, (FOC replacement) about 12 months ago... have i got the energy to do it all again???

Need a reliable option by early July, when we go touring in europe :-O

I have a 2013 TC. I'm fairly sure I've seen pictures of the W502B fitted to a 2015 in the housing. If you message them through their facebook page they should confirm. Also there are a couple of facebook groups dedicated to carpuride and other similar gadgets; 'carpuride users group', 'smart riding displays and gadgets', 'official fan group of carpuride'.

Also FWIW, next day with Amazon Prime is how I got mine.
IMO well worth the money. Had problems on one ride only, may have been 'death rays' from a huge power station or more likely lack of phone signal. On all other occasions, absolutely fine.

I’ve got the 502 on my ‘66 LC - and it works great. A far clearer ‘view’ than the Garmin it’s replaced, and I can control all my music at the touch of a glove.

I’m happy with it. Looks quite OEM when it’s mounted.

I 3D printed an ABS mount that clips right into the Nav 5/6 mount.

Not for Carpuride, but a 10.25” screen I added to my ‘15 RT.
Will share pictures tomorrow.

Glad to work with you to tweak the CADD file and send you one to try if it would be helpful. Just PM me.

Some pics attached...

That looks good VR47, can you share some more details, what screen etc and some pics from the side.
I dont like the Nav6 I have, not for the usual reasons as I rarely use Navigation, I leave it on the map screen because I like the 4 readouts which I use for front & rear tyre press, miles left in tank and speed (for the speed limit and speed camera warnings). The readout on the main dash is set for ambient temperature.
My main gripe is that I dont like the music player because you cant browse for Albums etc using the wonder wheel.... I use this most...

Looking at your setup, and the Capuride etc It looks like I will lose the tyre press etc but the music player may be better?

Yeah, some pictures included here as requested.

You're right, this won't do TPMS, although the Carpuride and some other moto Carplay units have TPMS valve stem cover accessories and can display pressures and low pressure alerts.

Does allow browsing albums, playlists, and voice commands to call/text/choose music, and a lot more.
Uses Carplay or Android Auto, so anything you can do in a modern vehicle.

Here is the unit I went with (not waterproof, but I did take apart and waterproof.)

Yes, the 502b snaps right in and is powered by the nav port.

I am 100% certain the 702b will not fit the 1200 LC models without modification.

Hi and thank you,
I have purchased the 502b as it is the same size and will see how that goes. May look at the slightly larger 6" though as an alternative. I didnt really want the ram arm and ball setup preferring the tighter fit to original , thanks again
