R1200RT 2008 fuel leak

Hello everyone,

I own a 2008 BMW R1200RT.
There was a fuel leak from the fuel pump connector.
When I opened it, I found that the gasket was old and worn out, so I replaced it, and the leak stopped. However, the leak reappeared after 2 days.
It seems that the previous owner had probably dealt with a leak at the bottom part, and a transparent, hard adhesive, likely an "epoxy" type, was applied there, which is quite hard.
Now, I have ordered a new set. But if I try to open it without removing the hard adhesive at the bottom, it might break.
I don't have tools like a Dremel.
How can I remove this adhesive using more primitive methods?

You can always sand off the epoxy, but it is very labor-intensive.

As you can see, it has been applied here in a haphazard manner.

I am thinking of breaking it up by slowly tapping on it with a nail or a hammer.

Probably best to leave the adhesive alone. On some Hexheads, there was a problem with the plastic flange cracking and leaking, a reinforcing metal ring was fitted. The adhesive may have been used to secure the ring.

There is still a gasoline leak coming from under the adhesive you see there.

In this photo, cracks can be seen at the connector flange.



It is possible that adhesive has been used to repair a leak which has now reappeared.
