"Updated" Additional Mirrors on my 2023 RT "Video"
After seeing the RT's on the "Tour de France", I wanted to get some mirrors like they use. The stock BMW mirrors sit low, making you drop your head to check them. These work great, and are a big improvement. The links are in the description of the video.

I fitted 1150/1200GS mirrors to my bike. The fairing mirrors are only used for overtaking and to keep an eye on undertakers(only if they are speeding)

Re: Additional Mirrors on my 2023 RT "Video"
They work great, half of my hand is on the foam, and the other half on the grip. Before I put them on, my palms would start going numb, these solved that problem, and I can still easily feel the heated grips. One other advantage is because they're just pipe-foam, when they get worn out, I just cut off a new piece and put them on. I've had foam grips before, and after a while, they get hard, and need replacing.

It's too bad the RT's mirrors are so low, but these work great.

Just seen this, I can't help but think it's overkill all the stuff you have going on and potentially confusing, I've managed fine for thousands of miles with the stock stuf, and there is no doubt things can be improved, but 6 mirrors and a phone with a MPH app

Everything serves a purpose, and function. I'm glad you like your bike the way it is, same with me.

Not a dig at the OP,just a general muse.I actually find the RT mirrors the best I've had on any bike, makes a nice change not to stare at me elbows and find they give me a cracking view of where I've been

I suppose having ridden a ST1100 with integrated mirrors I've learnt to look down, all I see of me or the bike are the top of the panniers.burridge01 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2024 6:19 pm Not a dig at the OP,just a general muse.I actually find the RT mirrors the best I've had on any bike, makes a nice change not to stare at me elbows and find they give me a cracking view of where I've been

Re: Additional Mirrors on my 2023 RT "Video"
Way too much information up to high for my liking. From decades of experience and through a combination of engine noise, vibration and how fast things are happening I know roughly how fast I'm going, plus of course the manufacturer has provided a speedo which is just a glance away. I do use a sat-nav but I certainly don't want it glaring in my face all the time, and lastly as burridge01 said, I find the OEM mirrors rather good and certainly easy to look into.
When I'm driving my car I'm looking through windscreen primarily concentration on what going on ahead of me, mirrors, speedo, sat-nav are all there to be looked at and used when necessary and I like the same arrangement on my motorcycle, albeit looking over the screen and i most certainly don't want that many 'bright things' shining at you at almost eye level at night.

Re: Additional Mirrors on my 2023 RT "Video"
the only issue I have with the mirrors is the fact that they vibrate a lot when in going slow and in a low gear but apart from that I think they are great

Back to the mirrors, here's a couple of pictures from the race. They are an improvement over the low stock RT mirrors. Give them a try, and you'll see, or enjoy your bike anyway you like, like I do, to each its own.

Re: Additional Mirrors on my 2023 RT "Video"
As you know i fitted the GS handlebars and have SW-Motech mirrors.
I can say that the setup i have works great for me and i would not change it.
They vibrate no more than the stock mirrors at low speeds.

Re: Additional Mirrors on my 2023 RT "Video"
They look pretty good,
How much hassle was it for the bar conversion ?, cable lengths etc and may I ask how much ?. Any chance of a pic from how you see thing sat on the bike ?.
Also is that a non slip cover on the pillion Sargent seat or the cool cover ?.
Cheers.
