Innovv K7 now fitted
So my Innovv K7 is all fitted and working.
It cost me £300 for the K7 system and £35 (rip off) for the front camera bracket
I have a Hex EasyCan fitted but did not connect the K7 to it.
I have a fuse box behind the right speaker cover so ran it from there.
The fuse box works off the delay off switch live under the seat.
So i have one camera under the headlight fixed to the innovv bracket.
The rear camera is fixed to the underside of the top box rack.
Now to keep the system away from as much heat as possible, i have the main unit fitted behind the left speaker cover.
Doing it this way there is more airflow than under the seat and removing the micro sd card is easy.
The 2m cable for the rear camera is just long enough, running along the top of the subframe and over the fuel tank.
The GPS unit is fitted to the left side cubby box just out of sight under the speaker cover.
As i have the GS handlebars i was able to fit the remote control to the mirror mount
I did not use the mic as i did not think it was needed.
The cables look a bit of a mess behind the speaker cover, but there all out of the way.

Re: Innovv K7 now fitted
So i did get to test the K7 yesterday on a local ride.
When i got home to view the footage i was not that impressed.
I had it set at 2K and IMO the video was not that good.
It was very jumpy and not very sharp for 30fps.
So i'm going to try the 1080p @ 30fps with EIS (Electronic Image Stabilisation). And at 1080p @ 60fps.
Will post video of each setting once i've tried all 3 settings.
My old V-sys M2F had great video recording. When it was fitted to my Gen2 Hayabusa i could read the reg numbers of cars coming the other way, even when over 70mph.
The M2F is a 1080p @ 30fps system, and i had it set at 720p @ 60fps. So i'm hoping the K7 will at 1080p @ 60fps be what im looking for.

Re: Innovv K7 now fitted
Glenn was good enough to send me a video of his Innovv K3 front camera working at speeds upto 70mph.
When i watched and paused both videos, The footage from the K3 @70mph on 1080p is much better than the K7 @50mph on 2K. The K3 could read reg numbers clearer than the K7.
I have sent a message to the company i bought the K7 system from and will also ring Innovv Tech support to see what they say.

Re: Innovv K7 now fitted
So i spoke to Innovv.co.uk tech support and was told to try anothe make of micro sd card.
All my micro sd cards are SanDisk High Endurance microSDXC. I have 128gb and 256gb cards.
So i wanted to find another make local so i could try it over the weekend.
Argos have the Samsung Evo Plus 256gb for £22, so i have bought one. Pick up after 4pm.
Innovv.co.uk tech support said that if this does not solve my problem i will need to get in touch with Innovv tech support in China . If it is no better i'm going to return it.

Re: Innovv K7 now fitted
I am starting to think that the K7 is a bit more sensitive to the vibration of the boxer engine than the K3.
I have now added a couple more of the EDPM washers that come with the kit, between the main bracket and the side panels.
So i now have 3 EDPM washers fitted to the front camera mount.

Re: Innovv K7 now fitted
I've been interested in these cameras for my 2007. I'm curious as to the ratings of your SD card. After Googling the ones you mentioned, it appears as they might not be the fastest cards for video capture. I became aware of this rating system a few years ago when i bought my Pentax DSLR. Here's a link that explains the little numbers on the card. If yours is a V30, it may not give you the best quality. Hope this helps. Cheers from Eastern Canada!

Re: Innovv K7 now fitted
I'm starting to think this Innovv K7 was not the right system for Artie.
I just added some extra dampener to the mounting bracket.
I then saw it, a bloody small stone chip in the middle of the lens.
I checked the last of the footage just before i got home, and luckly you cant see it.
So now i cant send it back.

Re: Innovv K7 now fitted
That’s very annoying , I’ve been thinking of asking about which front facing camera would be good and easy to install but I don’t think I’ll bother.EasyRider wrote: ↑Sun Jul 07, 2024 5:36 pm I'm starting to think this Innovv K7 was not the right system for Artie.

Re: Innovv K7 now fitted
Happy Days. Adding the extra rubber mounts has worked. The video is much better than it was.
So now i'm happy with it. The still photo is much better. This is at 30mph.

Re: Innovv K7 now fitted
I was really looking forward to the EIS from Innovv, which arrived with the K7. Unfortunately, it is a huge disappointment for me. The EIS works relatively well, but the image quality is terrible due to the low bitrate of the recorded video stream.
12K bit/s for 1080p is far too low. The image is pixelated and blurry, the license plates, etc., are unreadable. I wonder if this low bitrate is just a firmware error because the K5 has significantly higher bitrate.
This could be the best motorcycle dashcam on the market, but this low bitrate of the encoded video ruins everything. There are three bitrate settings available, but even the highest is only 12K bit/s.
If Innovv doesn’t fix this, there’s no point in switching from the K2 to the K7 because you’ll get almost the same quality. I will have to return my new K7 camera set to the seller and continue using the old K2.
Does anyone have this issue, and perhaps have an idea how to fix it?
I guess it is just a simple choice in the firmware source code to offer an additional option for a higher bitrate (I think 20 or 24 K bit/s would be perfect) for the video encoding, so it could be a five-minute fix for Innovv to create a much better product.
