Anyone know if the F800-GT is any good.
I'm looking at getting the wife a newer bike this year.
Now the problem is motorcycle are getting taller/bigger.
This does not give my wife much of a choice these days.
Now the F800GT is very close on size and spec to her Yamaha XJ6F.
So any info would be helpful please.

My mate has the F800GS same engine and it goes OK
The only thing you have to watch on these is the charging system! its a bit shite
Apart from that I am led to believe the GT is a good bike too

Not had a go on the F800 series but I was lent an F750GS earlier in the year and the engine was lovely. Lively and responsive and the whole bike was a lot lighter than I was expecting. It's on my radar for the future when the prices start coming down.

I had the earlier ST and to date, it was my favorite bike. 
I am a big fan of the belt drive. The ST, being lighter, was faster and more agile than my R1200 RT. The downside was wind gusts blew it all over the place, and it lacked the luxuries of the RTs.

Yes, I had one for about 18months. Great bike, if a little vibey through the bars. From memory the engine liked to rev but there was still more than enough umph low down lazy riding. Handling & brakes were great, comfort okay, the clocks a bit quirky, especially the fuel gauge and if you can get one of the later SE models pretty well spec'd. The reason I sold mine was it was just too small for me, but I guess your wife isn't 6' tall!

I did not particularly care for the F800R/GT motor.
The motor in the F750GS/latest F800GS is far nicer and the underlying technology is much newer.
If needed, there are low-frame models of both the above.
I would look in that direction. Don't worry about the chain - just fit an automatic chain oiler.
