Hi Folks,
How do you get the rear brake disc off. From what I can see there is no clearance for a torx to fit as the diff blocks all of the retaining bolts. Taking the rear wheel does not help with access. Do you have to remove the cover from the diff?
Many thanks in advance.

Re: Rear Brake Disc Removal
Not the best photo but this is out of a Haynes manual for a Camhead RT.
The disc retaining bolts are only available one at a time (arrowed).
I purchased a set of long reach Torx bits for the job but haven't actually done it.

Re: Rear Brake Disc Removal
Same with wethead one at a time when located in position. Another person to apply brake would help. I used disc lock on peddle and bit of wood to wedge tyre in place as disc lock never fully locked wheel. This helped by not having to keep getting up for each nut. Don't forget to remove weight and get confused as to why calliper won't remove over lip of disc.
Won't make that mistake again.

Many thanks indeed. I will get the long torx bits. Seems BMW try to make everything difficult??
