R1300RT Prototype

Post by Stu »

I'm sure some of you will have seen the pictures of this floating around by now!

Bearing in mind this is a prototype I expect it to look different to that in the photo's

The main thing that catches my attention is those panniers! I hope they expand as they look tiny!

Don't forget its a prototype the bodywork won't be finished and they will be testing first

It will probably look worse if the new GS adventure is anything to go by

Wow, that looks awful maybe the stealth colour makes it look worse. Front mudguard needs complete redesign to eliminate a need for fender extenders .

Please believe me when I say : the final product will look nothing like those pictures, as many of the body plastics are mostly slapped on bits and pieces ...that thing is simply a rolling disguise and a test bed !

The 2021 RT onwards is the best looking RT to date. I hope they haven't mucked up with this model like they have with the GS and GSA 😳
The GS 'is' the better bike :-)

It seems it will be carbon-copy of 13GS and GSA - new engine, gearbox and swingarm, lower weight, no two cubbies on the dash but one at the front of fuel tank.
Other forums discussed active aero on fairings.

By the time the price of 2nd hand and 3-hand bikes drops to my level, we might get used to a new design language :-)
I am here to learn.

I cant remember the last time BMW released a new bike where the BMW riders didnt whine and cry about how ugly it was.

Pretty much every generation of GS was met with insults. Just laughable.
They still manage to sell all of them.

Give me an old R80/100RT any day over newer models. All they seem to make bikes that are designed over function these days. The old RT fairings offered more wind and rain protection. Purhaps, am getting nostalgic in my old age. Asked the wife which of my bikes she liked the most? 1. R80RT. 2. K75. 3. XVR 750 Africa twin. She said most of the main stream bikes these days look as if they are copies of each other. That goes for cars as well.

If you think that then you should try a different brand.
