Connected Ride Cradle for ‘17 RT

Post by lancashirert »

Hi All,

Been looking in to the cradle, and it’s mainly GS stuff in YouTube, and I’m not winning on search.

How much does it work on the later RT, saw something which listed most bikes but excluded the RT.

Basically looking for a phone holder for nav and charge. Mostly use Waze in the car because it’s good for traffic, and upcoming hazards.

Any steers would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Unfortunately it doesn't fit on the RT as the surrounding plastics get in the way

Check out the wunderlinq as an alternative

I have this Hornig mount with a power lead that plugs straight into the bike(you would have to buy an adapter to fit your weapon of choice, currently has my tom-tom cradle mounted)

This is what I was after, I couldn’t get any info on whether it was the cradle or the screen which wouldn’t fit.

BMW seem convinced it’s going to be fine, and IMO it’s a really tidy solution on the surface. Shame it’s no good.

I’ll look it up, thanks. Weapon would be an iPhone. Used to have a Garmin on my old Sprint, but never got on with it.

Rang a different BMW dealer, they seem to think it fits! At least they said try their demo unit rather than just force a sale. Just been having a look at Wunderlinq. I would need a Quadlock mount on top if I’ve understood it right? Think I need to revisit this after some sleep… too much all work and no play lately.

I was always under the impression it doesn't fit

Either way a phone won't fit in the aperture though so you're still back to square one

Can’t really picture it relative to a phone - and a week off getting the bike unfortunately. I guess ultimately patience is required. Cheers!

Of you look at the photos I posted of the wunderlinq you can see the size of the phone in comparison to aperture.

The connected ride cradle moves the phone further in

The only real way for sure is to go try it and take a phone with you too

Is that your nav’s cable, and where is it running back to? Looking at this and Wunderlinq, gonna have to see how it looks with extra mounts, clips and dampers for phones.

That is the nav cable,it plugs in under the nose fairing. You then buy whatever connector you need to run from it(I connected my tomtom lead to it)The power lead will come with the mount.
Just to be clear what is for sale
Mount
Silver universal cradle
Power lead

When all is mounted to the bike there is no vibration, the tom-tom was rock steady.Think I have a ball mount knocking around I'll chuck in for whoever buys it.
