Yearly Searvice

Post by EasyRider »

So my bike is booked in for it yearly service on the 11th Septmeber.
Yesterday i thought i had a problem as the service light came on when i turned the bike on.
I now know that this is a reminder to get the bike serviced. What a good idea this is.
To make it even better an MOT reminder should come up as well as the older we get the more forgetful we are.
Sorry what was i saying
So i'm just getting the oil and oil filter service done at £170.

I do, but it would be cool it the bike had a reminder come up on the dash like the service.
A calender app like on the phone sort of thing would be good.
You could put loads of info into it to do with the bike.

I use this

https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... motchecker

It will remind you of an mot 1 month before it's due and you can add multiple vehicles to it

Yeah I got a similar scare today too.

I just picked up my used RT but it was an Autotrader purchase rather than through a dealer. Decided that I’d get it a health check just to be on the safe side so booked in for an annual service.

Going to sting me for £300, maybe more. And most of that is labour!!!!!

At least they could have bought me dinner before rogering me like that.
Remember, ride to arrive alive!

James.

Just bought a 3 year service plan from a local dealer, not a huge saving, but now it's paid I don't have to worry about it for the next three years and it will help me keep the same bike that long

That’s BMW for you, I take mine to an independent who has recently charged me £360 inc VAT for a major service.

MOT is easy for me. It the wife's birthday. Just given my bike a full service plus extras not on the list. Took me 2 days due to the heat in the garage. Total cost £86.63. plus loads of water to drink.
Trust me I am a retired Doctor and lecturer at Oxford University of Structural and Mechanical/Electrical engineering.

I have to say, it's not something I thought about when I bought the bike, I've been out of the dealer network for quite a few years now so servicing wasn't even on my radar.
I could have kicked myself when it came to the running in service, I ought to have negotiated it into the deal on the bike.
With the new Japanese bikes I've bought over the years, it was only the parts that I paid for, the labour was always free so, paying £171 for a running in service was a bit painful. They did make a lovely video showing me round my bike with all my brake pads laid out on the bench 😂

I am currently looking for a good independent in Yorkshire/Lincolnshire area, I was going to use The Worksop in York but he's closed down as he's just gone back to racing.
