Fork Seals

Post by rickmeister »

2015 R1200RT. Just had y fork seals replaced. They were both weeping, and my mechanic suggested I should get them replaced. So, after they were replaced, I found that sitting on the bike, engine off, ignition off, front brake applied, trying to "rock" the bike fore and aft. and found that the front end was like a rock! Didn't move one iota. Started the bike and sure enough, the front suspension was "enabled". Went for a 60Km ride and found all seemed OK. My questions are...is this normal? Is the front suspension also controlled by the electronic wizardry suspension adjustment (Hard, Normal and Soft)?

AFAIK, if the motorcycle is fitted with ESA, the front suspension/shock absorber damping can be adjusted to Hard, Normal & Soft.
