Nav VI not happy
Acquired a Nav VI separate to my bike, put it on the bike and it showed the battery icon. Thought it just needs to get enough juice in to turn on if it’s been off a while.
After 2 hours of riding, still showing the battery symbol with a ? mark in it. Don’t have a manual (any links available?), so could anyone shed any light on this?
Thanks all.

Re: Nav VI not happy
Try plugging it in to a wall charger for an hour or so? Failing that it looks like it might need a new battery.

Re: Nav VI not happy
May have found the issue. Doesn't have one!

Re: Nav VI not happy
If you have only just bought the sat nav, contact the seller and see if you can get a part refund to cover the cost of the battery. If bought from ebay, open a case up because you were not told it had no battery.

I got it completely free, basically because it “might not work” I’m not grumbling!

Re: Nav VI not happy
If the unit is from a production run before about mid 2023 when they did a major housing redesign, then it probably only has a useable life of 12-18 months before the screen starts jumping between menus and not responding to touches. It's to do with the resin they used to bond the screen to the housing breaking down. Doesn't affect all units but it does affect many, if not most.
If this strange screen behaviour starts to happen bin the unit. I went through 4 replacements in 3 years under warranty before I sold my F900XR and I don't need or want one on my RT.

Re: Nav VI not happy
I've had a nav 6 for about four or five years now with no issues, just keeping the screen clean of finger prints and dust using window cleaner usually solves any issues.

Re: Nav VI not happy
My 2nd hand Nav6 started with the ghosting problem so I sent it to these guys
https://www.gps-station.net/en/
and paid €209 euros for the pleasure of them fixing the screen issue. A bit pricey but the screen seems sharper, responds better to finger prods and they replaced the usb charger port, and a better charger lead too. I use the Nav5 I originally bought new (2014) in the car coz of the free map updates.

Re: Nav VI not happy
Good to know, thank you. Hopefully it won’t need it!
How do you do audio when you use these in a car? Seen a ÂŁ100+ cradle with internal speaker, although Bahnstormer have a ÂŁ30 one - albeit out of stock.
