HELP... Brake discs and pads!!

Post by Roper424 »

Hi All,
I've scoured the site and can't find any recent articles for help.

Need to replace rear pads and disc - 1200RT, 15 plate, UK based.

I can find a myriad of discs and pads but can't seem to narrow them down to what fits the bike.

Any advice would be really appreciated.

You won't go far wrong with EBC.
The GS 'is' the better bike :-)

I had a warning from BMW when I had the shaft replaced that all 3 discs were near minimum spec, and quoted me just under £1k to do it. They will have their little joke!

I bought BMW/Brembo replacements because I found a brand new front pair, pre-owned and still in the box on another site. The rear one came from Sycamore BMW in Peterborough courtesy of EBay, and Brembo pads from Sportsbikeshop on price match around £30 a pair.

Bottom line was that the whole lot cost me just over £300… but I had time to wait for the bargains to appear.

Lots of people use EBC and are very happy with them, hope you find a good deal… in fact I think I’ve got a full set of EBC pads sitting in my garage, if you’re interested PM me.

The EBC disc is here

It was that very BMW garage that just wanted to do some very rude things to my back passage in exchange for the rear brake. I'm happy to use the EBC stuff but I can't work out which disc it is that's needed. Or where to get them from. I don't trust eBay for stuff like this, and I can't get a disc from sports bike shop (which is annoying).

I used brembo discs and pads from motorworks i think or similar. The rear pads on 17 model are not supposed to be sintered. Did use sintered when tour of alps but found hard on the discs and didn't like feel
