Hill start control

Post by Rusty »

Hi all

I’m still getting used to my new (to me) 2022 RT. One of the things I can’t seem to get to work properly is the hill start control.

My bike has the Pro version (which I think means it applies automatically on an incline) and that function seems to work fine. However, I’ve followed the instructions in the book but cannot for the life of me get it to apply manually. Any tips? Am I missing something?

On my 16 you applied the brake and when stopped pulled the lever right in, sometimes a sharp pull was needed.

It’s the last bit of travel where mine kicks in but needs a rapid intentional pull. I assume it’s a feature not to have the brake held on after heavy braking, so making it a deliberate action.

I heavy squeeze when already stopped will do the trick, but TBH, you may have to be on an incline for it to register, it's great in most circumstances, but tonight I was stopped on a il and wanted to roll back to park - uh-uh, the bugger kept re engaging

Rusty, it looks like the Hill Start control on your bike is set to automatic. Perhaps you might want to go into the TFT settings and change it to manual for better control ?!

I’ve tried the rapid deliberate pull but no joy

Also changed it to manual and it doesn’t work

It has the Option 719 levers but I can’t imagine they’d make a difference

Hi

You can use the front or rear brake lever to apply and disengage this but you need to pull the brake lever hard to the bars or press hard on the rear.
You feel a click and the Hill start brake assist is applied same again to manually disengage the bike must be running with the side stand up.

Cheers
