Wilbers Suspension for ESA Camhead

Post by YellowLTD »

Hello,

For sale is a basically new (<100 miles) set of Wilbers dampers and springs that were briefly installed on a 28k mile 2011 R1200RT. I crashed the bike, sadly, and so I'm returning to my '07 which won't work with these (and already has a set of Wilbers anyway).

These will only work on a 2010-2013 R1200x with ESA II.

These are set up for a rider that is 195 lbs. in full gear, with 10-50 lbs. of luggage (195N/mm rear spring). If you'd like to have these re-sprung before they are shipped to you, I can easily drop these off at Ted Porter's Beemershop on your behalf - Ted will work with you to get the setup you want, and ship them out to you.

Before purchase, Ted warned me that the damping on these is notably firmer than the damping on the '05-'09 bikes. These are indeed *quite* firm right out of the box - they will soften just a bit as they break in, but they will still be substantially firmer than stock.

I cannot tell you how much of a difference these shocks make in the handling of the bike. If you enjoy a spirited ride in the twisties, and especially if your stock suspension is a bit worn, it will feel like a whole new bike. Compared to stock, these made the bike feel more taut, composed, and much more stable in hard cornering.

Normally to get aftermarket dampers installed on a bike with ESA, you need to send your original dampers in to either Wilbers or a qualified shop, as your original BMW adjuster units are transferred to the new dampers; special tooling is required, and your original dampers are rendered useless. This set will be plug and play - your bike doesn't have to sit apart for a week or more while the work is performed. You can also turn around and sell your old dampers as complete assemblies.

Asking $1700 US + shipping

Note - I have some other parts for this bike that I will get posted within the next few days - top case, tank bag, Remus muffler, & exhaust flap eliminator (pipe + Healtech emulator)
