Flashing red light on key fob

Post by DK1083 »

Hi all;
I have a 2014 1200RT LC. I’ve not had the bike long and have noticed a red flashing light on the key fob. If I press the other switch on the fob it stops.
Can anyone tell me what the flashing light means?

I don't know the legitimate answer, but it sounds like an emergency or panic button - if your near the bike does it activate the alarm or hazards? I'm sure an old manual from on line will be available if you try to track it down via Google

I’ve read the manual but it seems to refer to being able to set/unset the central locking system, but it doesn’t seem to do anything.

"If the central locking system stops responding to the signals from a remote control, the unit in question has to be synchronised."

The procedure for synchronising the remote controls is as follows:

Switch on the ignition.
Press and hold down buttons 1 and 2 until LED stops flashing.
LED flashes for about ten seconds.
Release buttons 1 and 2.
LED lights up.
Press button 1 or button 2.
LED goes out.

That is procedure to sync a keyed bike not sure if same for keyless as diffrent fob.

In 2014, was the ignition switched by a key and the optional central locking operated by a fob.

When was keyless introduced.

Dont know, thats why I dont try to answer questions on models i dont know about! no info is more helpfull than wrong info. My 2017 is still keyed ignition but most were not by this stage. There was a choice between both for a number of years, other countries may well be diffrent. locking can be done via switch on handlebar or fob. Alarm by fob only on mine.

From manual. not sure what your asking Stu. Mine is keyed ignition but can activate central locking from handle bar button or key fob. Activate alarm from key fob only as far as im aware. button 1 locks, push 1 again alarms, button 2 unlocks and unalarms one push. if remember correctly. if push buttons or hold to long fob unsyncs from bike so follow procedure to sync again.

@BoB21 my questions was aimed at the author of the thread as there is two types of fob depending on if you have keyless ignition or not

If you have keyless ignition it's all built in to one fob

If the keyless fob doesn't have an LED, does this mean that the fob with an LED belongs to a motorcycle with keyed ignition and remote central locking.

Is this the keyless fob.
