Heed Crash Bars

Post by DK1083 »

I have a 2014 R1200RT LC for which I have just ordered a set of front crash bars from Heed.
I’ve been looking online for an install video but can only find Wunderlich and Illium.
Having watched these it seems that there is no need to remove the engine mounting bolt as I had to on my previous 2011 RT.
It looks like only a few panels and bolts need to be removed.
Can anyone confirm this please?
Many thanks.

Yes that's exactly right

The bash plate screws in to the sump where holes are already there and then it attaches to the frame where the led lights mount to

Fairly easy to fit

Many thanks.. After the job I had getting the engine mounting bolt out of the 2011 that’s reassuring!

You can fit them without removing anything if you have a bit of patience

Just remember that if you do take bodywork off then you need to loosely fit the front top bolts then fit the fairing back on before bolting the bars to the sump guard

I’ll try the patience route first. The less I have to remove the better!

Just to update everyone, I have fitted my Heed front crash bars today.
Probably took about 3 hours and no panels removed.
I’ll let you know when they fall off!
Thanks for the advice.
