MPG - at the risk of sounding like an anorak...
I can honestly say that I've never cared about the MPG a bike does. I ride for fun, not economy.
However, last weekend I took my 2014 RTLC for a long weekend away for the first time. 750 miles of everything from fast A-roads, Cornish coastal roads and grass-centred lanes - and at what the IAM likes to call a "progressive" pace . Every time I filled up, the damn thing had been managing better than 50mpg - and that's for real, not just what the dodgy Bavarian computer said!
I've never had a bike that could get close to that kind of economy - big or small, fast or slow.

Totally agree, my `2012' with just 6k mileage does about the same - well pleased with it - and still riding with a `smile' ...... :be happy:

Fuel threads are nearly as bad as oil or tyre threads, however I must agree the RT is impressive in the octane department. I average 54 MPG and thats a calculated figure not from the computer which I find very inaccurate. Personally I'm not that bothered but whats really nice is it gives the bike a realistic range of 250 miles with a decent reserve. Brilliant.

Totally agree. Having been a dedicated Multistrada rider, being the last to need fuel, instead of the first, is a whole new experience for me!

Typically I got an average of around 45 MPG on my 2010 Twin Cam.
Riding style & loading can clearly effect MPG, I've covered over 300 miles on a tank full, returning around the 55 MPG mark, when cruising on a motorway.

How many miles do you have on your bikes to be getting that kind of mileage? I know it gets better with miles but Im wondering how many miles before you noticed the really good mileage?
Are you running the standard windshield or an aftermarket? I noticed my mileage go down a bit when I added the VStream on the other bikes. Much bigger profile.

Mine only has 3,000 on the clock (BMW Comfort screen) - and I'm NOT gentle with it...

2013 RT, 9000 miles currently getting 54mpg, I have a slightly higher CEE Baileys screen.
Love my family almost as much as my 90th anniversary RT

My 2010 Twin Cam had 38,000 miles on it & I was running with a Standard Screen. I'm not aware that the mileage on the bike made any significant difference to the MPG.
However, looking back at this thread about Taller Windscreens, http://www.1200rt.com/index.php/topic,1189.0.html, highlights some big differences in MPG figures, it might be worth a read.

I have 2496mls on my 2014 and until now had not bothered to check MPG returns. Well my bike averages 56.9 which is pretty good in any language. Well pleased

My 2012 Camhead with 13500 miles returns a steady 50 MPG. I'm very happy with that!

My 2010 averaged 52mpg when touring Germany with 2 up & a whole wardrobe. That was riding at sensible speeds but even when solo and riding quickly I still got around 50 which I was more than happy with. I haven't worked the mpg out yet on my RTLC but I hope it's as good:-/

The LC is for sure better on fuel. I could never get more than 50 out of my 2009 but my LC is doing about 55 no matter how I use it.

I had 60mpg whilst the weather was bad but as it's warmed up, dried out and I've got used to the bike it is coming down (around 57mpg). Sure I can get it lower but to be fair if I want to keep my licence you really don't spend long hard on the gas!

Since buy my ex-demo in December I haven't had a lot of opportunity to ride nor check consumption. But last week I checked out a route that I'm using for the Mercia ride Sunday next.
It was 173miles consisting of a good mixture of A and B roads. Maintained good progress but did notice that I tend to be running a lower gear than I would on my previous Pan, I try and keep the revs around 4k - 5k. Good throttle response and engine braking.
Yesterday we went out for another ride so decided to check the consumption for the previous outing.
It had clocked 183 miles at the garage and I brimmed the tank but could only get 10litres in.
I usually use Shell standard fuel.
My son says that I'm not riding it properly.
Now the better weather is starting to appear (?) I should be able to give it a good outing.
