I'd like to replace the original (now corroded after 3 years) Timing Cover Screws & Washers on my 2012 Twin Cam RT.
The BMW Part No. is 07 12 9 905 537 & they cost £2.33 each x 12 = £27.96.
A trip to Hawk Fasteners in Middlesbrough came up with some Stainless Steel M6 x 30 Socket Head Cap Screws & Washers (12 off) for £6.21.
If you have changed any screws or fixings etc. for Stainless Steel, where did you get them from, thanks.
Timing Cover - Screws & Washers
Re: Timing Cover - Screws & Washers

Re: Timing Cover - Screws & Washers
Cheers Steve, the Allen Headed Screws with separate Washers look the same as the ones I have already purchased.
The smaller Screws in the ebay link will be for the plastic Alternator Belt Cover & Beltguard, M5 x 16 (7 off).

Re: Timing Cover - Screws & Washers
Bought (7 off) M5 x 16 Stainless Steel Screws today for £1.
Removed one of each M5 x 16 & M6 x 30 Bolts to check the sizes including the Washers, they fit perfectly.
Better quality than BMW OE at a fraction of the cost.

Re: Timing Cover - Screws & Washers
Couple of questions... Does anyone know where you can get these for the LC (stock ones are cheap looking)? Also what torque setting should they be tightened to?

Re: Timing Cover - Screws & Washers
Looks like this is the Front cover / oil tank on an LC, http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do ... g=11&fg=14.
The Screws are M6 x 20mm (16 off), available from Amazon, http://www.amazon.co.uk/Socket-Bolts-St ... B00A76IKCC.
Don't forget the Washers, http://www.amazon.co.uk/Washer-Stainles ... DWMCCRZG7J.
The Torque setting on a Twin Cam is 9Nm, (Bolt size is M6 x 30mm).
It's worth noting that A2 Stainless Steel is not the same grade or quality as A4, but still better than BMW OE.
I was initially offered some A2 Screws but the finish on the heads was poor, (could have been a faulty batch).
The guy in the store suggested using A4 at twice the cost.

Re: Timing Cover - Screws & Washers
Looks like to complete the job on a Twin Cam, you need some screws for the two Fairing Brackets which bolt to the Stud Bolts on the Timing Cover.

Item No. 03, Screw & Washer M6 x 45mm (1 off), plus Item No. 06, Oval-head Screw M6 x 16mm (2 off).
