Monolock Topbox

Post by Mgee »

Hi all complete newbie here just got my first ever BMW an 06 1200RT I have been given a Givi topbox as there are only panniers on the bike the topbox is the monolock type so only comes with the one size fit all adaptor plate.  Has anyone had any success fitting one or should i shell out for a different topbox ?

Givi do a specific adaptor plate for an R 1200 RT (05 >13), had one on a 2007 model.

Could the RT specific Monokey plate be switched for the one size fits all Monolock one, the grid looks very similar.

It might be worth offering up the Monolock Plate onto the RT Carrier, as the Plates (items 1 & 2), which the Screws go into are fixed in the 4 holes on the Carrier.

This image shows the Monokey Plate fitted, looking at the spacing of the bolts, the Monolock Plate may be too small.
