For me, the roads to the north and east of Driffield are particularly good with nice views from the top of the Wolds. Other opinions are available.David. wrote:

Re: Alternative 'Northern Monkeys' June Meet 2017
Now that the weather seems to be stabilising, David and I got our heads together this morning to finally sort a route as everyone seems happy enough to go with the flow. Hopefully this will save time in the morning.
The mileage is approx. 164 taking approx. 4hrs 30 mins plus stops. The major stops will be Seaways Café (with a comfort stop at Elvington Café en route),Bainton Tea Rooms and a regular café stop in Howden (parking could be an issue for 6-7 bikes and patience may be required) or the Viking pub in Goole which does have a good car park.
There may be seven of us riding tomorrow so we thought a junction marking system would be best employed and we'll finalise that in the morning.
David will lead us off to Seaways, I'll lead from Seaways to Howden/Goole and David will lead us home from Howden/Goole. I'll act as Tail End Charlie for David and vice versa.
I hope these arrangements are OK for everyone and if anyone would like a copy of the route, please let me know.
Last check weatherwise in the morning 0700-0730.

Excellent Chris, thanks for your time and patience this morning in helping to come to a conclusion over the route.
Happy with your proposed split of leading and TEC for the day.
The BaseCamp routes have been transferred to my sat. nav. & cross checked against each other.
We are good to go, looking forward to the day out.

What a tease, this takes me 5 miles from home, then 55 miles away from it back to start point. )

Don't advertise that, might have you down in 'Favourites' as a brew stop. Maybe a bacon buttie thrown in. :thumbs:scunny1 wrote: What a tease, this takes me 5 miles from home, then 55 miles away from it back to start point. )

Re: Alternative 'Northern Monkeys' June Meet 2017
If anyone is pushed for time, the last stop before returning back to Wetherby is the Waterways Museum at Goole, just off the M62 J36 and only 3 miles to the M18 J7, it might be a convenient place to depart from the ride if necessary.
The café is open until 3:30pm, Howden would be an alternative, we pass through there anyway.
I could always bring my brew kit, or Winterton isn't far from Goole.

Re: Alternative 'Northern Monkeys' June Meet 2017
Should parking in Howden be an issue, the Viking pub on the outskirts of Goole seems a good option also, big car park and appears to be open all day. The Waterways Museum would have been a great option but, like you I imagine, am assuming we won't make it for 1530. All things considered, we should get a brew somewhere.David. wrote:

Might as well have a back up plan for the back up plan.
