Just want to say Hi to everyone, picked up a 2016 fully loaded R1200RT yesterday, see pic. I had a 09 K1300s before this, put 40K miles on it and loved every mile. This is a total opposite direction for me but a good one I think. Will keep you all updated as the miles go by, any questions just ask.

That's a pretty long jump from the K1300! I'm interested in hearing how your adjustment goes.

Thank you SteveF
Firenailer, it is rough to switch from such a fast bike as the K1300s is and the RT is 100 pounds heavier, have to take my time and get used to the RT size and difference in handling, power band is apples and oranges, I love the comfort of the RT.
I need to figure out how to start my own thread here so I can post updates as the miles go by.

Thanks for sharing the website link Jeff - it makes for interesting reading, plus the R12RT LC bike also shown in the SECOND best (and slower) colour.....San Marino Blue!
I've corrected that for you Steve...

I have been riding BMW RTs since the 1980s. A Wisconsin native, I never owned a Harley. I did visit the Harley factory once -- on my RT.
The seat is the major issue with an R1200RT. Get Russell Day-Long saddles and your butt problems are over. Info is on my R1200RT web site:

Anyone know if we dan get these seats in the UK?

Well I picked up my 2016 R1200RT Saturday. I have put about 450 miles on it so far and it is a blast to ride. I will need to get use to the seat position since my body has over years molded into the HD position. The engine and power is awesome. The suspension leaves even the Ultra Classic in the weeds. The seat is a little hard and the windshield sucks. I may order a Werks quiet ride tinted windshield. I may send my drivers seat to Mean City Cycles for some memory foam. They did my HD seat and it was 100% better than stock. Any suggestions on seat and windshield? I think the Ultra Classic will be resting in my garage for a while since the RT is so much easier for me to push around.
