I spoke to Lovetts in Bristol who informed me that the GS thus far is only affected. They couldn't fathom out why the RT isn't included (yet)! Doubtless this recall net in the UK will widen in time.......

Spoke to Pidcocks (Long Eaton) today. They seemed unaware of any recall, but checked my Vin/Reg ( 2015 RT) to confirm. Negative!

So they checked your VIN against the recall list and confirmed you were ok. And they told you at the same time they were unaware of any recall. How's that work then. They checked mine against the same list 2 weeks ago. You must have lost something in translation.

These are the BMW parts that get replaced on R1200RT during the recall service:
21-52-8-525-828 Output Cylinder
11-31-7-711-269 O-Ring
12-41-1-459-445 O-Ring Set
Hope this sheds some light on the situation ;-)

Which is why after two new bikes from them I changed dealerships. They used to have a stable workforce but it got so that you never saw the same face twice. I hope they get back to the company they used to be and I will give them my custom again.

Mhr43 is not correct in saying Pidcock's said there is no recall. He spoke to the Parts man who looked up his bike on the recall list and advised him he has no recall on his RT.
Yes there have been staff changes at the dealership but the blokes that matter (in the workshop) have not changed.

I am obliged to RT man 10. for correcting the information I was given by Pidcocks. When I telephoned them I asked for the Service Department and assumed the person I spoke to was from that department and knew what he was talking about. Even so I would have thought that someone from the Parts Dept would have been aware of something as important as a recall. I am starting to lose faith in Pidcocks, this is not the first time I have felt uneasy about their after-sales service/advice.

That's a good idea.
I was obviously not privy to the conversation mhr43 had with Pidcock's but the individual concerned is responsible for ordering the necessary replacement parts for the recall. So to suggest on line that a main BMW dealer has stated they know nothing about it makes we wonder who didn't understand the answer fully, or for that matter the question.

No. RTman10 was NOT privy to the conversation I had with Pidcocks. I take exception to his suggestion that I failed to understand the very reasonable question I asked or the response, which was given in a return 'phone call after enquiries were made by Pidcocks.
I suggest he re-reads more carefully my previous comments.

Sorry you take exception. You only say you rang them and they were unaware of any recall. No mention of a return call.
I will, pass your concerns onto their General manager in the morning.

Thank you RTman10. There is no need for you to take up my concerns. I will deal with this myself.

Rainbow at Rotherham seem to be benefitting from the customer facing side at Pidcock. I understand that the people that matter in the service dept at Pidcock have not changed but it's not them dealing with potential customers. I went to trade in a K1300s for my new RT, was quoted a price, went for a test ride the next week, loved it then a different sales guy decided £1500 less for my bike was the way to go. Rainbow gave me the original price the same day. No brainier really and great customer care. As I said I am sorry to desert my local dealer. Would love to know what is going off but it seems that ex staff have been sworn to secrecy because none of them will let on, they just smile when asked.

The VIN on my 2016 RT which went into production Jan 18th, 2016 was just checked by my local dealer for up to the second recall applicability and came up negative, so supports the Q3-Q4 2015 production is affected.
