2 year warranty is now standard with BMW AUBs  :)

Correct. Apparently it changes in April to 2 years.

Back to the original question, I'd see no real reason not to buy just because it's been dropped on the cylinder head.  I dropped a BMW Off-Road School GS on the cylinder head and a sharp rock punched a hole straight through the head cover (not a guard, the actual cover).  Bike was up and running with a replacement cover within about 30 minutes...

So while preparing to do the trade yesterday my dealer and I were talking crazy - I proposed 4K off of a new '16 and he said let me see - came back at just about that (including current July incentives).  So would you take a new '16 at 4K off MSRP or the '14.  After trade-in the '14 costs me about 5,700 USD and '16 about 13,000 USD.  Taking my wife down to help decide.

What would you do?

Depends how important 8 1/2K is to you.  But that's a lot off a brand new one so I would be tempted. As they will be getting next years bikes in before too long try for a bit more off.

Exactly why I am in a dilemma :). I think it is a 7.5 k diff but nonetheless a lot.  Only real extra feature on '16 are keyless ignition, alarm and central lock.  Nice features for sure.

CORRECTION - '14 out of pocket for me is 7800 and '16 is 13,250 so new bike costs 5450 more

If the 14 hasn't got central locking or an alarm it's a lower spec bike than the 16 making that even a better bargain.

I went with the '14 and saved the 5500 dollars.  Bike had lots of accessories with it.

Small top case.  Tank bag.  All bag liners.  Wunderlich lights and various protectors.
