The Metzeler Roadtec 01's are not recommended by BMW for the TC.
Won't be long before they are as they are really the replacement for the Z8 in the Metzeler range.

Sprintgull's new 2016 RT came with Z8's.
Metzeler list both the Z8 & 01 for the LC, and Z6, Z8 & 01 for the TC.
Looks like Metzeler are continuing to make 3 versions of the Roadtec tyre, the same as Dunlop with RoadSmarts & Michelin with PR's.

When designing motorcycle tyres, manufacturers take great care to ensure that the rear tyre breaks away before the front. Do I presume that riding on unmatched tyres might disregard this hard work?

My XJ650 has a matched pair of Continentals, RB 2 / K 112, when out recently in damp road conditions, the front end moved whilst the rear didn't.

I assume that you were not on the perfectly evenly surfaced and wetted track that the manufacturers use.

Must say that Iv'e never heard this one before. I suppose that they are assuming that both wheels are being rode over the same surface and that the front will miss the patch of diesel that the rear doesn't !!.
