At least you can lift the front seat off without releasing the pillion one first. The design is yet another steal from the 1600. The lock mechanism is an improvement as it was possible to destroy the old design without much effort.

Having owned 3 (pre-LC) RT's over the last 9 years, never had a problem with the rear seat locking mechanism.
On the TC, the storage space is under the tail light unit & seat itself, accessible when the rear seat is removed.
Other than access to the battery, can't see why you would want to remove the front seat.

I never damaged any but I always had one in stock and had a reasonable turn over.
