What happens with BMW used bikes on the showroom floor, which pass their service due date of 13 months.
Do they get put through the workshop for a service & put back again, I doubt it.

Bikes sold from BMW dealers are covered by the AUB warranty which they get from their date of sale and after going through an AUB inspection.

AUB FSH, "Our BMW Motorrad Premium Selection programme demands every Approved Used Bike is provided with full service history and documentation when you decide to take one home. To qualify in our BMW Motorrad Premium Selection programme every bike will have been maintained to our BMW standards and any service due within 1,000 miles will have an appropriate service carried out prior to delivery."
So, if an AUB is within 1,000 miles of being due a service, it gets serviced before it's sold.
What it doesn't say is, what happens to any bike which is sat around in a showroom & exceeds 13 months since it's last service.
If the dealer services it, because it has gone overdue at the time of sale, then doing so must meet the T&C's of the AUB warranty.

I have the same quote for my 2012 David. When my independent warranty expires (July), I will purchase one too.

My RT is a 2012 model with 15,773 miles on the clock.

If you want continuous cover, don't forget to purchase the BMW warranty one month prior to your independent warranty expiring.
