Good information Boxring. I was not aware that the design change to re-locate the "big bearing" had taken place. Like you say lots of folk thought that frequent final drive oil changes would enhance the lifetime of that bearing, when in fact the design placed the bearing remote from the oil bath. It would be nice to see an engineering drawing showing the "built up" assembly as no matter how many times I look at the two "parts" diagrams above I do find it difficult to figure out just what locates where.

Having recently traded in my 2006 RT for a late 2012 model I would definatly go for the TC machine. It just has lots of small improvements which combine to a give better all round ride.

I pulled the trigger about bought a 2013 today. Test drove it twice, once with my wife and SHE told ME we should get it. Amazing.
Now that I have it sitting in my house, I am fraught with questions. But, I am excited to have joined the RT family!

Good choice ! I'm sure you'll love it and, if you have a topbox, it will be the best seat for a passenger this side of a Goldwing.

It did come with a topbox. My wife, who has zero M/C experience, really likes it.
I live in Western North Carolina and already I can tell this bie is gonna be a blast. I currently have a G650GS Sertao...amazing how different these 2 are. Two different tools for riding, that's for sure!

Not sure if 2007 has servo brakes, if it does avoid, repairs are very costly
2010 is a very solid bike
Enjoy the ride
I have a 05 with power servo brakes,,, I,v had no problems ,in the Uk if you have problems there are options for you ..you could go to the dealer and pay a "arm and a leg"or you could have the unit reconditioned. Or you could have the unit ripped out all together and go back to "old School" and run without ABS.. I bought mine with about 54000 miles on the clock ,,and it has taken me around Europe a couple of times.. In my opinion its been pretty good value when compared with a newer model. But as with anything ,you pays your money, and you take your chance, regards

I have to say: My wife and I rode for 5 hours on Sunday. she has never riden 2-up and part of the reason we got this bike was to ride together. She loved it! I read somewhere that it takes a couple ofhours to fall in love with this bike. By the end of the ride, I was smitten. So much fun.
