Can't remember who put that 'extra' stop in but I think it was the dude on the blue (rather mucky if I may be so bold) TC.

I can remember it was agreed by mutual consent.

Well, k9doc & David have had their heads together & come up with a splendid alternative ride into Northumberland/Borders should the Lakeland ride on day 2 not go ahead.

Good idea but commitments on the 9th. Also have to spread the quota of Permits. Can't blow too many on one trip. Prefer (
and only capable of) 'little and often'.

Agree with that and especially the once bit. I did it West to East on an FJR1300. Not bothered about doing it again on a heavy tourer. Maybe a smaller capacity GS or a 3 wheeler, 8) , I'd give it another go.
I feel the same, did it two up on a fjr, if I were to do it again (hardnott) it'd be on a much lighter bike

Waterproofs and thermals to cover all bases. I wanted to be a Meteorologist but ended up a Metallurgist, damned Careers Advisor could not spell. :))

An eternal optimist's view, flavoured with a heavy pinch of reality! And let's face it, it is the height of summer so only a dreamer would travel without either.

Should the weather prove to be favourable, what would be an ETA at Ripley.

1030-1045 should cover it. Latest weather ok until Tuesday morning when it is forecasting some rain in Cumbria and North Yorkshire.
