Rode to the NEC on Sunday - lovely weather, parked for free inside, short walk to the Halls, £15 ticket off a lady in the queue instead of exorbitant £25 on the day, £30 cheaper than best on Internet set of leather trousers with hip protectors negotiated as a freebie, met up with biker friends down from Liverpool Spent thousands on new bikes in our heads. So all in all a good day out. But totally agree with most of what has been said.

I like your 'negotiation' tactics Rob. If you don't ask, you don't get. Always worth a try, I'm there tomorrow and hoping they want be wanting to take a lot of stuff back to the shop. I've always found too if you get people talking, show a genuine interest in them, it's amazing what they'll do for you.

Several of the clothing stands are probably more often at markets and it really irritates to have the full on sales patter. May be doing them a dis-service but I don't like parting with money at the best of times!!

I rode there on the Sunday left at 6:30am from Portsmouth temperature between 1 and 4 degrees. V.I.P parking free of charge.
Up and back on the train from Euston (return 1st class to avoid the horrendous crush) for less than £25. £17.50 ticket from BMW Club to help pay for their free stand (provided they at least 200 tickets to club members).
Very comfy and above all relaxing.

OK, just home from the show. Went by train for a tenner, so a cheap day out. Have to say, I got a lot out of it. Got 15 months membership of IAM, inc test fees and instruction for £99. Spent an hour with the BikeSafe Cops and signed up for that. Need to be careful as spellchecker changes BikeSafe to bondage ... 30 mins with BMW Rider Training, and watched Ian Biedermans impressive slow riding skills, so more taeaways there. Sat on some lovely bikes Inc a Goldwing, Harley, Mioto Guzzi.
Manage to snaffle several key rings, a calendar, 2 pens and several shiny catalogues.
A day well spent I think. I'd go again, which is always the acid test.
I'll be putting a glimpse up on YouTube when I get organised ...
