If this is supposed to be a veiled attempt at an apology it falls well below the mark. The originator of this thread is a valued member of our Forum who has contributed countless excellent, helpful and informative posts without resorting to personal attacks. Shame on you.
I'm not sure what part of that was a personal attack, it is a valid point. The OP here has been chuntering away to himself for three days about the cost of an o-ring or the cost of someone delivering it. I'm pleased to hear that the OP is satisified that he has saved 36 pence for three days work... I fear their future in economics may have ended before it began - changing those items twice a year would take a minimum wage full time employee only 300 years to reach break even.

The R1250RT lists service items in this diagram. Items #2 & 3 are the sump drain plug & washer, (20 x 24).

GWR Fasteners do a 20 x 24 in Cu but not Al, https://www.gwr-fasteners.co.uk/20mm-in ... 7779-p.asp

Can anyone assist in identifying why some applications have Cu, whilst others use more cost effective Al.

Items #7 & 8 are another plug & washer, (16 x 20),  does anyone know what this is for, thank you.

(The final drive seals are the same as those listed for a Camhead).

This is so much more fun and hysterics than an oil thread, congratulations David you have exceeded yourself. You've managed to put most of the forum to sleep, someone to personaly  attack someone for personaly attacking you and someone into economics to waste their time calculating how many years to break even. For christ sake now im involved.be

That made me smile. An observation that puts things into perspective.

David. wrote:Found this O ring, https://estore.chester-motorrad.co.uk/3 ... 43901.html £0.60 + £3.95 P&P.
This is unbelievable, the 4 off O rings ordered yesterday have just arrived in less than 24 hours. The jiffy envelope has £2.31 on it, the delivery had to be signed for.
If ordered online, Royal Mail Signed For™ 1st Class would have cost £6.76. I paid no where near either of these prices for P&P.

It's amazing what you can get if you pick up the phone and be nice to people.

The Wemoto order arrived today. Unfortunately, the M14, M16 & M18 Al washers with the 2mm larger OD are probably not ideally suited to fit the RT drain/fill plugs.
All is not lost, the M14 is the same size as that required for all three plugs on the XJ650. The postage was free.

The Wemoto 12 x16 Cu for the FD fill plug will be perfect.

Still awaiting the GWR Fasteners order which will contain the M14, M16 & M18 Al washers with the correct OD for the RT.
Plus, some more 12 x 16 Cu washers. The postage was £1.80.

The GWR Fasteners order arrived today. The M14, M16 & M18 Al washers have been checked against the OEM sizes and they are just fine.

Unfortunately, the 12 x 16 ordered in Cu have arrived in Al but are the correct size as per OEM.

GWR (Josh) has very kindly agreed to supply 4 off 12 x 16 in Cu FOC.

I bought these last time I serviced my 2011. I pressed 'buy it now' and a package arrived Three days later ready for an annual service I was doing at the weekend.

I'm sure there's cheaper out there if you search for it? I value my time more than a few pence saved here and there though.

It'll be those three copper sealing washers that have bumped up the price, they are six times the cost of the correct aluminium ones.

Most recently, BikespeedUK have been the cheapest I've found for Hiflo air,
https://www.bikespeeduk.com/index.php?a ... &catId=168 (the HFA7914 isn't listed but they can get it)
& oil filters, https://www.bikespeeduk.com/index.php?a ... uctId=2100

Saving £9.43 is more than a few pence.

Wemoto have re-listed the 16 x 20 sump plug Al washer, https://www.wemoto.com/parts/picture/cn-07119963252 50p each with free P&P for orders up to £4.99.

Or, £1.15 from BMW Motorrad + P&P, https://estore.chester-motorrad.co.uk/0 ... 43699.html
