As per the BMW Rider's Manual, the engine oil spec. is API SF / ACEA A2, or better, with various viscosity ranges based on the ambient temperature. No mention of JASO MA or MA2 for wet clutches. The 2012 Camhead has a car like dry clutch. The BMW Motorrad ADVANTEC Pro oil spec. is SAE 15W-50, API SJ / JASO MA2. Why pay more for a wet clutch oil when it is not required. Has anyone used a car oil in their dry clutch RT.
Forgive my ignorance on oil specs, but how does one know if an oil spec is better or worse than the manufacturer recommended please? Thank you.

The oil spec. for a Camhead is API SF / ACEA A2 or better.

The spec. of the Motul oil linked above is API SN / ACEA A3.

SAE 5W-40, API SF / ACEA A2, ou superior ~-20 °C
SAE 5W-~50, API SF / ACEA A2, ou superior ~-20 °C
SAE 10W-40, API SF / ACEA A2, ou superior ~-10 °C
SAE 10W-~50, API SF / ACEA A2, ou superior ~-20 °C
SAE 15W-~40, API SF / ACEA A2, ou superior ~0 °C

I use this brand in the car.

Never had an issue. Is it good enough for an R1200RT 2006?
Thanks
