i have ordered 4 arms from here:
https://boxer-upgrades.webs.com/apps/webstore/
total cost (inc shipping)... £110
If I read the pricing correctly that's a good deal at $75 incl shipping for the Upper Arms. I have had similar one's fitted to both my Hexhead and re-fitted to my first Camhead then passed on to David for his own Camhead. I seem to recall that mine came from Canada and I can't recall if they where Stainless (which is not really necessary as I sprayed mine black) or Mild Steel. Both my Hexhead and Camhead had the larger version Z Technik Vstream fitted. Lets see if I can persuade David to let me have them back !!. Incidently, it's a good idea to periodically grease the four mounting pins to ensure smooth and free movement which will put less stress on the Motor.

Re: broken screen "Arms"
ok, i have dismantled the front end, in order to get to the 4 arms that need replacing.
can anyone tell me how to remove the lower arms??
the parts diagram says they are held on with a securing clip.
but i dont see anything on there.
do they just push off?
they seem pretty stuck on there and i can't see how to remove them
???

Re: broken screen "Arms"
update. it you hit them hard enough they just come off. there is no clip on them. they are just "pushed on"
Re: broken screen "Arms"
ok, more questions...
the new lower arms can in installed "pointing" in any direction
if i take the arms off and push the "screen down" button the hex shaft rotates forever (ie, it never stops),if i push the "screen up" button, the hex rod rotates the other way for a few seconds, then stops.
so....what procedure do i use to install the new arms?
do i get the hex rod in the "screen max up" position, then install the arms (pointing upwards)?
obviously there is a sensor/system that stops the hex rod rotating when it senses that the screen is "fully down"
any advice would be great!

before i took the arms off i took these photos:

Re: broken screen "Arms"
This photo looks like it shows the lower arms in the fully raised position.
This looks like the screen is fully raised.

Re: broken screen "Arms"
there is no clips on the hex rod on my 2007 models. the arms just "push" on and are not held in place by anything

Re: broken screen "Arms"
Within the BMWMOA thread, it's been suggested that, "I think BMW pressed the ends of the hex shaft to keep the arms on".
Re: broken screen "Arms"
with the new parts i have ordered. it looks like i get a new hex shaft too?
https://boxer-upgrades.webs.com/apps/we ... ow/8199971
so i guess i just hit the old shaft until it comes out?

That's a reasonable postage service, thanks for the feedback.ds99 wrote:The new bits arrived, took 10 days to arrive (from Romania).
Looks like the lower arms are secured to the hex rod with clips rather than screws as per the photo on the supplier website.

Re: broken screen "Arms"
Got it, thank you, the end of the hex rod is threaded to accept the screw & washer.
Re: broken screen "Arms"
yes, that is correct
