Finally happened “fuel gauge “

I thought these things just failed and either showed empty or worked right. Didn't realize they failed part way through their range, too.
I've had the one on my 08 replaced already, a few years back.
Didn't know they were also prone to going out of calibration and giving false (too high) readings.

You don't expect to run out of gas when the gauge on the dash is showing a 1/4 and remaining range ~100 km.
I thought it was damned FPC going out again. I should have really noticed that my trip meter was already at 505 km (~300 miles) since my last fill up. To be sure a lot of that was at relatively low speeds on tight backroads, but I've never gone that far on a tank.

I'm a dummy, hauled a bike home in the back of a U-Haul that I could have just put some gas in. :oops: :lol:

In my own defence, I got sidetracked by thinking it was a fuel delivery problem, as I had already previously experienced (FPC failure), not a fuel presence issue :lol:

Why the f!@# didn't BMW just put a normal float-based fuel gauge in these bikes?
