Searching either "R1200RT" or "R1250RT" points towards this forum.

Some members have "vintage" 1200RT's, some have the latest 1250's with TFT screens and some have GS's!

During the season of goodwill to all men and beyond, it'll be just fine.

The main reason i joined this excellent forum was it dealt with the RT models only. There are other forums for the RT but they also cover R models and K models too. I also belong to these but on one of them that one certain person thinks he's God on R models and no one can disagree with him or comment on the subject. I hardly use the other forums now due to this type of people.
This forum is more friendly where everyone is welcome to ask questions be it from the simplest to the most complicated. No one is put down, slagged off, or made to be stupid. The members here will help anyone and have a good adult chat at the same time. This is very rare these days with the internet.

Yes I made some tweaks to ensure that R1200RT and R1250RT was the main focus for google search for that reason

There is some work that needs to be done on the naming of the sections to make it all a little more clearer when it comes down to SEO and attracting new users but I don't want to change too much too soon

I also don't want to go down the route of separate sections for each model and that thread you linked to suggests not to do it too

Whatever you are doing behind the scenes seems to be working, keep up the good work, much appreciated, thank you.

168 flags to go. Think the forum name needs to change to the BMW R1200RT/R1250RT International Forum. Then again a bit long winded.

When I took over the forum I started looking at the stats in the background and to be honest they wasn't great which isn't a jibe at STeinar as it was totally out of his control

Its actually a fault of the old software it was rejecting and blocking a lot of new members and not allowing people to register on the forum

There was hundreds of thousands of rejected accounts for no real reason that the forum was flagging as spam
Thats interesting, back in 2010 I was modding for a big commercial lifestyle type forum that was slowly running down and social media was getting the blame for the lack of new users. I'm not the techy geezer and don't have any ambitions to be but about 4 or five yrs ago I started poking aroung with the limited mod acccess and found that the answer was staring us in the face. For some reason, like you said the PHPBB software was knocking back new members and eventually stopped sending out membership confirmation emails. They've fixed it but the damage has been done now.

Social media has destroyed a lot of forums and I have seen it happen!

People want a quick answer to a question and social media does that sadly its a lot harder to search social media for an answer without asking the question. There is no place for you to document stuff as you go on like a rebuild etc

Forums and social media have their place though

I have never used email activation for accounts as its so easy to make a mistake or your webhost to flag as spam when its not I just screen new users first post once they sign up that way I can decide if its spam and remove accounts or let them in if they aren't spam :)

A friend of mine tried to sign up this week but his email addresses are blocked, as he only discovered the site when I sent him a link to the off siding discussion I know it cant be he has been banned previously but his surname and email address may be the issue.

His name sounds like he should be a porn star

No restrictions whatsoever so it should allow him to sign up

That's how it was set up and after a couple of new owners I've reluctantly agreed to admin the board for the block deletetion function it gives me. I can wake up to 50 to 100 pron spam posts from multiple users. These days I can spot the spammers joining and their country of origin by the username or email service, backed up with WHOIS and off site IP blacklisting services. Never a dull moment

The set up needs altering

I have had just the one spam account on here :D

Setting up spam bot countermeasures with a good Q&A is a good start
