I spent about about an hour on the bike today. I took off the panniers, radio box, side trim, muffler and the foot peg support pieces/disconnect rear brake plunger and lever assembly. No drama, one stripped torx screw on the crash bar/pannier frame but came off with some vice grip persuasion. I presprayed all of the accessible bolts that hold the frame with PB Break although probably doesn't even need it. I am working at a very casual pace, measure 2x cut once approach.
Spent about 30 minutes staring at the wiring, brake lines and trying to get a picture in my head of how to logistically separate front from back, what can stay and what has to be separated, where to move it. There are some additional wires due to police equip, but not much.
I think I can get it down to D-day status with another couple of hours, meaning I can get it to a spot where I can separate it, pull the starter/gear box, R/R the clutch and get it back together in a day. This is assuming that once it is apart, the friction disc is the single fail point.
I am enlisting help for that day, want some extra hands and muscle to remove the rear end and the gear box, and also to reinstall, that most def looks like a four handed operation.
