I started of on the Zumo's and could never get my head round the basecamp. Was a good satnav untill I discovered the Tomtom 550 premium. Chalk and cheese,one of the things I really do like about the 550 is the side bar telling you the distance between petrol stations, absolute god send on a bike(even more so on a VFR1200)

I use a Zumo XT, dont bother with Basecamp, I use Plotaroute https://www.plotaroute.com/routeplanner save as a gpx file then load via Explore Garmin https://explore.garmin.com/Map

After trying to get me head round basecamp I gave up trying to plot course's on any level. So much easier to stick ya finger on the screen as a way point on the Tomtom, or go for the queer route.Never,and I repeat never press the odd bod route button(or wha tever its called)when near a housing estate

I gave up on basecamp early on!

I now use MyRoute App

The advantage is I can plot routes at home and access them on my mobile and easily change things if I want to then send them to the XT via Bluetooth
