That is exactly what everyone said about the 2005 1200RT when it replaced the curvaceous 1150RT.

I lost count of the number of times that "fugly" was used -especially by the Americans who seem to have invented the "word" (a very good reason why we Brits should avoid using it)

Nearly everyone changed their minds when they saw it in showroom.

Here we are again, 20 years later - making the same moaning and groaning noises :lol:

I leant when i started riding to nod and to make sure a biker parked at the side of the road was ok.
Not many do this these days. if i'm unable to stop i give the thumbs up and if they don't give it back i turn around and check there ok.

Until we see the finished product it's pointless commenting on the looks as it will look different to the one above

I think more emphasis on max weight carrying capability is due, I mean not everyone is svelte with a 32” waist or a size 8!. It would be great if the new model could carry 200kg plus of rider/pillion and still be able to take some luggage !.

My be in Goldwing territory then. My even carry my bulk them ;)

All these professional design experts claim with total certainty that BMW is making a hideous looking bike.
Pretty much the same as every other model release.

People want very different things from the next model. Same with the GS. Before the 13GS release people wanted superlight, less tech, etc, etc.
Pretty sure some said the same before the R1250GS. Well the R1250GS was a hit and it had a lot of high tech, more power and no weight loss.

My point is that everyone thinks they know which way the model development should go. But there are many views on this.
And the bikes will sell regardless of what comes out.

I for one think BMW makes great bikes and they get better every year. I am not your typical BMW owner as I dont whine 24/7.
If you think BMW bikes suck and keep owning them, well then that's on you.

Looks like you’ve taken my post the wrong way, don’t think I said bmw suck. I happen to very much like my 1250RT, I’m saying not everyone weighs 60 to 80kg and it’d be useful to have more weight carrying capacity in newer models.

No, I wasn't directing it at you. Just some opinions of the reactions in general here, on FB and other forums. Also the reactions to the R1300GSA.

All are entitled to their opinions. Mine is not more valuable.

Just some thoughts on the reactions to new models.

There nothing wrong with airing our thoughts!!

Like I said its not the final product so its pointless

also initial reactions can be totally different until you see it in the flesh

I didn't like the 1300GS when I first saw that but when I saw it in person

Still don't like the GS1300 even when I viewed it in the showroom. The tank looks too slab sided, The front lighting looks terrible. As I've said it look too Japanessy . The salesman said they are selling 6 xGS1250 to 1x GS1300. Comments he's heard are from customers is although the engine is better, the looks let it down. The rest are down the same lines. He told me, making sure no one could hear I will not last or is rugged as the previous models. He doesn't expect it to be a cult bike like the 1150/1200 and 1250 models are.
