Irrelevent really to question I posed, For a price you would be able to get insurance, just the same as for high performance sport cars at a young age.

Having spent over 20 years working in Insurance, I can confirm you would be able to get insured - but at a price. There’s a specialist for everything.

Even my boss can get insurance for his Lambo, despite his two previous spending bans! It cost him Β£9k for the year, but he has little choice but to pay it.

My apologies, looks like I incorrectly read this article, https://www.bennetts.co.uk/bikesocial/n ... -explained and only picked up this bit.

"What motorcycle can I ride at 24 or over?

Previously Direct Access (which means you turn up, pass your test and ride away on anything you like) could be done at 21 years old. This is no longer possible and instead you must be 24 years old or older."

Most 24 to 30 year olds would probably not buy a RT.
If you're 95 to 99 years old and still ride any motorbike, my hats off to you

Getting a motorcycle licence is expensive and a minefield, no wonder dealers are closing down.

This RAC article, https://www.rac.co.uk/drive/advice/moto ... e-licence/ seems to explain things clearly.

Looks like if you take the "Progressive" rather than the "Direct Access" route, you can get an "A" licence at 21, not 24.

Will have to put back the 20 - 24 years category.

I don't think anyone under 40 would even think about owning an RT.

That's only because you don't want to be seen on the inferior RT πŸ˜‚

I did own an ex-Kent Police R80RT when I was about 23. Made a good distance courier bike. Insurance back then for a London Courier was only about Β£30 more a year compared to none hire and reward cover. It was a bit of a jump in CC from a R45, CX500

My 22 year old youngest son would love an RT but insurance costs are preventing it. Instead he rides a 700 Deauville. The eldest is more typical and has a 2020 Suzuki Katana.
