Agreed BMW have been trying to move away from Air Cooled engines; due to the cost of production. IMHO LC is best alternative for BMW - reducing costs and keeping the punters happy.

Got me there, cost cutting by making an engine with much tighter tolerances. I just got it, wind up time.

Think I remember 135bhp but needed a service every 3000 miles.

Euro 3 and service costs I should imagine. Come to think in the HP2 it produced 130 bhp. Never rode one but probably not smooth enough to stick in a tourer.

Hello all
I tried a 2016 Rt today at the dealer and it felt OK. Then I tried a used 2010 and it was like night and day. It seemed so much lighter and easier to straddle (I'm 5'6"). The salesman just said they're had been some changes, but he didn't know what or when.
Does anyone have any idea at what modelle year the RT got heavier and perhaps wider?
Thanks!
Here is my theory:
I had a 2009 Rt that was "low suspension" model. I am not sure if they made the low suspension model on 2010, but if you rode one of those, particularly with a low-seat, you would have likely experienced a lower center of gravity and thus the illusion that the bike was lighter...along with the reality that it felt easier to handle.
