BMW R1200RT/R1250RT Forum

I picked the bike up from Norwich this morning and had a most pleasant ride home. It was really interesting and pleasing to see how BMW had developed the bike from my previous 2006 incarnation. Loved the improved performance (torque and pick-up), how about that exhaust note. It also points and steers much better, really holding a line well. The rather weird tri-colour paint scheme is even starting to grow on me : ))


A standard SE bike apart from the front snow plough attachment. I bet that's not a BMW item!

Actually I think it already has a fender extender as well as the snow plough! It does work as the engine is spotless and normally you don't see it. But I know it's there, which will play on my mind!


The other great improvement on the bike is the switch gear. So glad they saw sense and installed normal indicators

So the BMW Navigation mount and foil has turned up. Reading through the comprehensive manual I don't see any mention of the foil? It's the item on the right of the photo. Just looking for confirmation where this goes.

It's wrapped around the bar before clamping the two halves of the square mount around the bar itself.

I'm also going to plug this combination in, just to see if it works on a 2012 RT.

Don't see why it won't, have seen a 660 being used on a GS which had a BMW mount.

I had engine crash bars fitted to my 06 RT and I'm not sure I want to re-fit these to the 12 RT but rather go with a set of cylinder head guards. I've seen these:
