I think that’s a good security feature and elegant.

Cymark do them for the GS/A’s and they obviously make a profit… and I did suggest it several posts ago

We just need the shaped piece of metal and a diagram of the correct location (in exchange for folding beer tokens) then we can get it welded and send it off for powder coating ourselves.
Buy your SAKM’s Centre Stand Modification here folks!

Saw these advertised for sale for the R1200GS
Its a modification to the centre stand in exchange for a lot of money
It allows you to insert a lock through it so you can't take the bike off the centre stand which I thought was a good idea to stop any opportunist thieves while out touring etc
The centre stand was off to be powder coated anyway so I thought sod it whats the worst that can happen
Here's the result
This is such a great idea, I am going to do the same.
I have bought a secondhand center stand to modify.
Two questions, what size was the hole you made and what model of disc lock are you using?
I understand that I could probably make the hole any size so long as the disc lock shaft fits and use any disc lock I choose but I'm curious to know?
I'm definitely doing this, I even thought about tapping the inner side, and using a wheel security bolt instead of the disc lock. I would then have to weld a short bit of tube on the outside as well to stop thieves access to the bolt head with a mole wrench or the like.
On balance, I think that is over complex, and I'll stick with your design.
Incidentally, here is how you get stand springs off and on without risking your life!

One of the z1000 touring model used to have standard fitment centre stand lock in the 90s. A new bike/scooter has one fitted, recently read but cant remember model. Always thought a good idea.
Z1100 A1 I think you're refering to :D you can just see the keyhole for the ignition key on the footrest plate

Well, as intended I have now done this modification as well.
It's a relatively simple mod but one that will hopefully add some extra security to your bike.

To compliment the stand modification I also bought one of these.
Not particularly cheap but I like the functionality and having only to carry a small spring loaded pin
it gets a good review from "Benetts" who said it was one of the hardest disc locks they've tested to defeat.
Between the center stand lock and this I think I have a reasonable degree of security and no more lugging heavy "D" locks or chains about.
If someone is really determined to steal the bike, lift it into a van or something, yeah, they'll probably get it but this may slow them down a little bit.
