Today we found a leak behind the sink The washer had perished on the tap and dripped behind the unit,we knew the washer was buggered back in May just before me accident and forgot about it untill the women wanted something from the back of the cupboard. Completely soaked and mold everywhere. Visit to MachineMart and now in the process of drying it all out.


Cheered meself up and bought a hugger for me bike

Back in the kitchen today to find I still had a leak Sink out and found the hot water pipe was the main culprit, new washer on and renewed everything else under there.Reckon it's cost me the best part of £200,not including me new hugger.


Learned some new plumbing skills with me crutch

I have been doing snow. Please, no more this winter!

We got about 15 centimeters (that's 6" for those possibly SI system challenged) at one go and I have now cleared the yard three times today by plough. It takes me about two hours to do that job once so after three times I'm quite toast.

It was a bit dull - and cold - day today so we went to have a look at bikes. Test sat a used H2 SX+ but I'm too old for such crotch rocket.

Went then to see the helmets and bought a Shoei NXR 2 in white. Whites are cheap and fairly visible on the road.

Then my Harley dealer informed that the shocks and front springs for Evo had arrived.

It was a good day.

Took the bike in this morning to have the fuel strip replaced under warranty. I was given a choice of a courtesy bike. The first was a G310R, the second was an F900R and the third was this. After a ride of 45 miles, this is my first thoughts about the bike. At first, it feels a bit cramped in the leg department. This is even with my 30" inseam.
Think the seat height is 680mm. The seat feels like a plank of wood with minimum padding. Seat to handlebar stretch feels strange at first but started to get more comfortable as the ride went on.
When you first start the bike it kicks to the right side just like 1980s BMW bikes. The engine is quite mechanical and not as quiet as i thought it would be. Getting off the side stand was a shock. Every report ive read and seen said it was heavy to get the bike off the stand. It's not at all, it came up really easily. I know it's heavier than an RT but it doesn't feel like it. Gear changes give the usual BMW clonk and you have to be positive in changing gears.
At walking speed it is well balanced better than my RT. You have Rock, Roll, and Rain. The Rain mode feels like the power of my RT. Rock is full power.
Well, this is like a full blown sports bike. You need to grip the bars so hard that the blood stops in your fingers. I only used this mode for a short time as the roads were wet. Roll Mode is in the middle of these two. and squeeze your bum cheeks tight. I hate to think what it's like on the Triumph Rocket with more power and a larger engine.
Now i haven't ridden an unfaired bike for a few years but this surprised me again. Up to 60mph, you get a little pressure on the shoulders. 60 to 70mph my helmet started to get some buffering. Now, this is where the surprise comes in, 75 to 80 mph the helmet buffering stops and there is only a bit more wind pressure on the shoulders. Chest pressure wasn't bad at any speed.
Reverse gear made it easy to get the bike over my gravel drive. This is a pain with the RT.
Overall the engine power even from low rev's is addictive. twist and hold on. Handling for such a heavy bike is brilliant.
It's a good bike but for a bike to keep long term it's not for me.

I got offered a test ride on the R1800 thingy when I took my GS in for it's last service. I declined the offer and drank copious amounts of hot chocolate instead after owning a couple of HD's and riding a few others, there's nothing in the slightest that could interest me in a big piece of shite like that.

My bum and around the back of my shoulder still ache. The Salesman Was trying to make a deal with me offering a 5k discount on a transcontinental £22.999. Every extra from the book on it. I was pre-registered in August. The other sales girl told me that they have only sold a couple since they came out. If i had that money it would be on a new RT.

Looking at the pillion seat on the R18, I think my wife would divorce me if I offered her that to perch on for the 4K summer holiday!

The passenger seat is a waste of time and it is an extra.
