We can both start with a full tank of that "super-duper" BP stuff at Birch services.
Will be interesting to see how it fairs compared to Tesco's finest, will have done 100+ miles by then.
Got the same 100+ miles to do on the return journey, on the BP stuff.
Will use the cruise control set at 70 MPH, can't be fairer than that.

For clarification, I have spoken to the first hotel in Bangor, although no money or card details have been exchanged, they would like to know by Saturday 17th whether or not I intend to travel to Wales.
Based on the fact that Chris (k9doc) needs to decide the day before, then it shouldn't be a problem.
Hope this is clear and explains my situation.

In case the Welsh weather turns against us (always look on the bright side) we have been working on an alternative based on Dumfries. My two mates and I will work our way up on twisty roads, and meet up with David and michaelc somewhere in the Dales.
We will depart the Premier Inn Dumfries at 0930-1000 on Tuesday 20th for a ride entitled 'A Taste of Galloway', 223 miles in just over 5 hrs riding time.
Our route will take us through Galloway Forest Park via the Dalveen Pass to Portpatrick and return via a more southerly mixed roads route.
We head for home on the 21st by an equally twisty route through the Dales to Wetherby. David and michaelc will leave at a point convenient to them.
Should we take this option, anyone wishing to join us at any time would be most welcome. If the weather is kind and we head for Wales, this is a trip we intend to do at a later date and the invite will still apply. Routes and details on request.

Just been working on some routes in conjunction with Chris (k9doc), from the North Riding of Yorkshire, I could meet up at The Manor Café in Leyburn on Monday 19th.

The Premier Inn at Dumfries has been booked for Monday 19th & Tuesday 20th June, at the "Flex" rate, meaning that if we do go to Wales, it can be cancelled FOC up to 1 pm on the Monday.

Looking at the return route, I'm likely to "bail out" at Kirkby Stephen on the way home.

The BBC website 10 day weather forecast is looking good for a week on Monday 19th June.
For
Wales, have picked Dolgellau as a mid-point between the Bangor & Builth Wells hotels,

For comparison, here's
Dumfries,

(Not much to choose between the two atm.)

So far so good, we'll have to do both.

Still not a lot of difference between Wales & Dumfries, Wales being an odd degree C warmer.

Lava bread or tattie scone on a full Welsh/Scottish breakfast might be the decider.

Plenty of cloud, but no rain in the forecast to date. Hosepipe ban imminent. Wales has the edge at the moment.

So far, I'd agree with that, 20*C "scorchio".
