This doesn't make sense to me, the service intervals are 12 months or 6,000 miles.
Someone at Dick Lovett needs to learn how to write and add up.
Can you make out the mileages, are they printed on an invoice.

Yup, exactly what I said to them when I looked at the service stamp, I wasn’t amused. They said it’s legible….
Current miles 11,100 mls.

Looks like you won't need a service to maintain your warranty to its' expiry date.

No hopefully not, if I get to 12k I may have to but it depends on the weeks/ months left.

That video was very interesting. I removed my entire butterfly about a year ago. (The axle is still in place, but there is no butterfly.) Doing so, caused no negative effects and I feel that the bike does have a little more zip. I have noticed that when I shift up or down, I get some slight popping sounds from the exhaust. (I presume suppressed backfire.) In the film I noticed that there was no movement of the flapper during a shift. It just makes me wonder about the origin of the popping sounds?

At the last BMW service, Dick Lovett have put what looks like ~9K, why is the next service due at ~12K, not 15K.

Because they haven't done a 12k service at 9k so it still needs to be done when the bike reaches 12k

The valve clearance check was done at 9K, when they are not due until 12K.

Other 12K service items have been completed by the owner, namely, Oil change in rear bevel gears, Replace all spark plugs & Replace air filter cartridge.

Sorry, just to clear this up I booked the bike in for that service because the time was up not the mileage, they didn’t want to do the valve clearances but I insisted as I was paying them !, I also asked for the cam timing to be checked/ adjusted if needed, the latter I found out was checked ‘ by eye’….. So I was told point blank that the valve clearances would have to be done again at 12k miles as per bmw thumbscrews.

I don’t ride in winter and don’t do huge miles anyway, I will say that the garage did offer to collect the bike and go through all of the work again as there was some mishaps, we were putting this off until I had done 12k miles but over the winter I changed the deal with them and asked for the collection of the bike to sort out this issue of power loss going up a steep hill with combined left or right corner, so they updated the software ( I had to agree if anything went wrong I was accountable not them) but I also bought another Yaw bank angle sensor. Yet to all be tested once the salty roads are over!.
They delivered the bike back to me also.

Thank you for clearing that one up. It all gets rather complicated for the BMW service computer when you don't do 6K miles every 12 months.

They also have to deselect the service items ("the computer says") you have completed yourself, e.g. engine oil & filter change, which DL had ticked yes, then crossed no.

There is still 3k of wear before the 12k service if you don't go by the schedule and something goes bang I will bet you a lot of money they will try and wriggle out of a claim

I'm sure you are right, which is why, although I get the BMW dealers to do bespoke servicing, as a minimum, they change the oil & filter.

I take a gamble with other service items and do them myself.

It’s been difficult coming from 16 yrs of home servicing an ST1300 Pan European , I’ve been riding since I was 6 yrs old and although have had some brand new bikes over the years and had to have servicing for warranties I do like servicing my own stuff where I can. I find trust is the biggest thing to deal with …. When you do it yourself you know it’s done

your next service is 12200 or one year from what i can make out .
