EasyRider wrote: Tue Aug 06, 2024 6:56 am So i thought it was time to fit the rear shock and my Akrapovics that were removed from my Gen2 Hayabusa on to my Gen1 Hayabusa.
The rear Maxton shock went on without any problems.
But the exhaust was another story. I removed all the panels, the water rad the oil cooler, the main stand the exhaust headards. I then went to fit my de-cat gen 2 headards and thats when the problem started.
Everything lined up as it should, but i could not fit the headards unless i cut the old mount off from under the frame.
I spend a good couple of hours trying to find a way around this, but it was not having it.
So i have ended up having to refit the OEM exhausts back on the bike.
I'm a bit pissed off and i now have to sell the Akrapovics and take a big hit on them.
I paid £1219 for the Akrapovics, £160 for the de-cat Headers, £200 for the Akrapovic shields and £180 for the R&G exhaust protectors. A total of £1759 which I will be lucky to get half that back when sold
I'm going to have a good think first to see if i should cut the exhaust mount off from under the frame !!!!!!!!!!!
No way could I cope with that loss. If it's just a bracket get the grinder out. 99.9% of problems can be fixed with a bit of savvy

The problem is Doc, My gen1 hayabusa is VIN 59 and one of the first in the UK. I have changed a couple of things on it to make it better for me. But i can put it back to stock in a couple of hours. Cutting the frame will be a hard thing to do IF i do it.
I am now looking for another set of headers that i can cut and weld so they miss the frame mount. Its the balance pipe that is hitting the frame.

Went out for a couple of hours with the wife riding pillion. She loved the new sargent seat.
She was surprised that when i went a bit quicker at one point, she did not have to tuck in.
She said she was looking over my sholder to see what speed we were doing (30mph :-D ) and said it did not feel that fast.
I do have to look into making something for her feet. She said with the crash bars fitted her feet are forward more and when i picked up speed a bit quickly her feet were lifting off the pegs. No top box was fitted so she could not push against that to help keep her feet on the pegs. any thoughts ?

Edit.

Just bought some push bike toe clip straps.

I was a bit cooler this morning so started the service. I've got half way when I could cope with water running in my eyes and my shirt sticking to me. Only the tappets to finish. Will carry on tomorrow.

New tyre day is always a good day.
They always feel wonderful and we rave about how good our latest purchase is. In truth we've just changed some old squared off rubber for fresh round stuff and should probably have changed them a couple of thousand miles ago.

........still feels great though!!

So i took Artie for its MOT yesterday (7th August) and he passed.
When i was there the guy for the next MOT turned up.
He was riding a R1250GS and we got to talking.
I then had a bit of fun with him.
I asked if he was able to lift his hand, which he could.
I then asked if he could bend his neck, again he could.
I then said to him "well done, so why cant you bloody GS riders do that on the road"
Even the MOT guy found that funny and we all had a good laugh about it.

Weather was good so had a run out to Rhayader and the Elan Valley. Relatively few cars but quite a reasonable number of bikes.
