Cleared out the garage and moved it around so it is easier to spin the bike around. I like to know who put a load of crap in there. Ups must have been me.
8 bin bags full.

Though out the autumn and winter months I think the same. Dragging the barge out just for a coffee run. A small unfaired bike would be perfect, something like a R9. If I had the room or money to have 2 bikes it would be great. I've gone down that route before and the second bike was hardly used. But then comes spring and that's when my touring month starts. In this case a fairing is needed for those long boring motorway miles.
In your case I think a smaller bike would be better. I've done loads of test rides over the last 2 years and I still can't find a bike with a sit up position. My back wouldn't last with a lean forward handlebars. If you do look for a smaller bike go and do loads of test rides before slapping the money down. I wish you luck.
Anybody after a second bike for winter, I can certainly recommend a BMW 310GS I’ve had mine 7 years from new, mostly winter miles, and it’s held up very well, and you can pick them up pretty cheaply

still in the garage. This time trying to find stuff I've put away. Never let a woman help with tidying up. The garage is my domain

Recently replaced the head gasket on my 1959 TR3a. Today was the day to re-torque the head. The first 7 were fine. The 8th suddenly went soft and sheared.
Expensive mistake. Turned the lights off, locked the garage door up and walked away. Hurts just writing about it!

Not so bright idea today to take the Road King out for a ride in 8 °C weather.
Perhaps heated grips for next season.

Been looking at the road king. Not into the blackout new ones as I like the chrome. How reliable are they and is servicing really dear?

I've always loved Road Kings since Warr's gave me one as a courtesy bike a few years back - I was always a sucker for the wires and white walls of the "Classic":

That looks a right bugger of a job getting in and out,not the ramp I envisaged.

Yeah, it used to be not to bad with the pan but I was also younger then
. A view from inside, the ramp I put on hinges so it’s out the way. Shed isn’t long enough for a longer ramp.
I also have to first move the car off the hard stand to across the road.

I have had seven Harleys through the years and the only one, which left me stranded, was my new 2004 FLHRC. And the reason was busted battery causing electrical short.
Maintenance costs are the same or less than on other brands IMHO. When you start modifying the sky is the limit with costs. Typically the normal Stage 1 mods are not that expensive and the bike runs really well after that. A good independent mechanic is great to have.
Some years tend to have crank problems and other years something else. I like Evos and early 88" Twin Cams as well as later post-2010 103" Twin Cams.
