Avant RT LC Fender Extender

Post by Levisp »

Received this product today after a long wait due to being out of stock. Got it from Nippy Normans. I very rarely review anything but here goes. First I have to say to BMW what planet are you on. Do you only test bikes on clean dry roads ? The standard front fender offers no protection ! Fender extenders I have seen in the past look a little tacky and usually require sticking or drilling for self tapping screws. There must be a better solution and there is the Avant Extender. Cost from NN £44 OK not cheap but I think well worth it. First impressions when I took it out of the box was that this was a substantial piece of plastic. Somebody has given this a lot of thought. Its very well engineered and beautifully made. Fitting is simple took me less than 2 minutes and is very secure. There is no damage to the original mudguard so you can take it off. The product looks OEM and suits the bike. So Machineartmoto I give you 10/10 and thats from a perfectionist. ;D

I was hoping to see one that had been fitted as opposed to a studio shot.

When it stops raining I'll push the bike out of the garage and see if I can do it justice.

Thanks.  Does look large but I'm sure it will keep the muck at bay. Looks like you have fitted proper engine guards as well.

Got my avant from NN, fitted in the week and had a run out today. After the fog, sunshine, torrential rain, rainbows and lightning the front of the engine is noticeably devoid of road muck! Thumbs up from me.

I have one of those and a rear extender, you can never have enough protection.

For anybody considering buying into the hallowed world of RT ownership if you opt for a pre 2014 bike the rear extender is not always there. They come as standard now but before you had to fit your own.  The whole thing including the nut and bolt is only about £11 from your local friendly BMW dealer.

After a bimble out today I think the Avant needs to be 3 inches wider each side  ;D
