Where did you get to in 2014?

Post by David. »

Living in the NE of England, approximately halfway between Lands End & John O'Groats allowed me to take two separate 4 day trips to LE & JOG.

Had a week at Klotten on the Mosel in Germany & a 16 day trip to Northern Spain.

Where did you get to in 2014?

Had a few days touring ( that's  trying to `cram' as much in  as possible ) around the D Day Normady Beaches,  Good company and believe it or not excellent weather  for the end of September.  No doubt  some of you have already done this `tour’.    Just a few photos, visiting the American Cemetry you cannot help but feel moved, especially when you realise their average ages were in their early 20s.    Just click over the picture  it loads quicker.
So much to see over there so planning to return a couple of times in 2015, stayed at a Bikers  B&B    La  Tringale,  see link,

Hi if you do plan to visit Normandy, check out this Link,

https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8 ... 3ceaaf5443

full of information just click on the `balloons' to open or the side text,    The page lists all the `D' Day places of interest,  a `must see' is the Pegasus Bridge museum and the one at Saint-Mere- Eclise.  To many places to fit in , for one  a weeks trip though. [

One of the guys who came to Klotten with us has a Motorcycle Sport Touring website:- http://www.motorcycle-sport-touring.com/

If it is of any interest, here are some photos & a video he took during the trip:- http://www.motorcycle-sport-touring.com ... rmany.html

Did my first tour in September:
Bath
chunnel
Belgium
Along the Rhine then some great black forest roads
Switzerland
Austria
Stelvio
Italy
France (inc the viaduct)
Along the pyranees
Through north Spain to Santander
Back to Portsmouth & home

8 days to celebrate my brothers 50th. We went on Triumph Tiger (birthday boy), a pan (his brother-in-law), Honda cbf600 (youngest brother) and me on the GSF 600 bandit (really!)

Absolutely amazing! My wife has bought me a 2014 R1200RT for Christmas, great deal on the low mileage recalls! I'm still waiting for collection might have to wait until Feb 1st, its agony!

I test rode the F800GT, liked it but thought I'd out grow it too quickly. I was gob smacked when I test rode the R1200RT, just to eliminate it from my want list. It was minus 4 Celsius on the way to the garage for my test ride never having ridden anything over 800cc & 90bhp. I've never felt so secure & safe on a bike. And the sound of a fleet of heinkels chasing you down when you pick the speed up is awesome. Looking forward to summer and my 50th in 2017 - must get my younger brother to organise another Monmouth tour!

Hi, that's pretty impressive for a `first tour' well done, and  a  `reasonable '  Christmas present from the Wife, unless she means she's just ordered the 2014 recall BMW R1200rt  2000 piece  Jigsaw  - better check  !!!!
Post a photo when you get it ...    8)

Hi Pope,  I also did the Normandy Beaches,  last September ( see above posting ), guess you need a month to get around to see it all.  If you do go back check out this  `Map'  of sites and its info.    The wife and I hope to get a couple of trips in this `summer'.    Click on the `balloons' to open the info on the Sites, the map can also be moved about on the screen.

Just over 10,000 miles in total - all on the Multistrada that just went to make way for the RT...
