What have you got planned for 2015?
Looking at the possibility of a 2 week trip to Germany.

Going with Pidcock Motorcycles on their tour to Austria 10 day trip based in Zell Am Zee. All inclusive 4 star hotel close to the Grossglockner Pass. Have a look at their web site www.pidcock.com
Re: What have you got planned for 2015?
Got a couple of weeks lined up for next year. First up, take in Mull & Skye, then up the west coast and along the top and over to Orkney for a few days and then back down the east coast. Later in the year, a week with the wife down through the Lake District, over to York to see friends and then meander back up the east cost.
Then probably my biggest personal challenge is to get away camping for a weekend, sounds easy but after a couple of bad diving incidents my joints can take a bit of starting in the morning if I sleep the wrong way! I hope I can work this one out as I used to love getting away with the tent...

Excellent, have you been to Austria before, we were there last year.RTman10 wrote: Going with Pidcock Motorcycles on their tour to Austria 10 day trip based in Zell Am Zee. All inclusive 4 star hotel close to the Grossglockner Pass. Have a look at their web site www.pidcock.com

We were in Austria the 2nd & 3rd week in September 2013 and had some unseasonably poor weather.

Slap bang in the middle between Edinburgh & Glasgow. Been going to Orkney for over 25 years, twice a year when I was diving. Now I am not under the water I will finally have a chance to see what the Islands are actually like!DaygloDavid wrote: Sounds great, never been to Orkney, Scotland is brilliant.

What route will you take on the mull & Skye section?sofnolime wrote: Got a couple of weeks lined up for next year. I was toying with the idea of setting off from fort william, then down to Oban and across to mull, then up to Tobermory .. Then I believe there's a ferry across to kilchoan? From there up to mallaig then across to Skye.
Wasn't sure if I could make it work with ferry timetables.
Is it a run YOUVE done before?

Yes, there is a ferry between Tobermory & Kilchoan, don't think the summer 2015 timetable is available yet.
This is the current Winter timetable:- http://www.calmac.co.uk/timetables/wint ... lchoan.png

When on the Isle of Skye, there is a small ferry from Kylerhea to Glenelg, it is the last manually operated turntable ferry in Scotland, well worth supporting.

Yep that is the plan...
Day 1 Home to Oban and ferry to Mull, overnight on Mull
Day 2 Mull to Kilchoan ferry, Mallaig to Armadale ferry loop round Sky and then back to Fort William that night.
Day 3 Up along Loch Ness to Beauly, Ullapool, Durness and overnight in Tongue.
Day 4 Along the North coast to Gills Bay and over to Orkney.
I have never done this run as a whole, but I have done all the bits individually before.

Sounds great, what kind of mileage will you be covering each day?

150 - 200 miles per day. Day 2 will be a bit longer but there is no rush, I'll just spread the miles out over the whole day...
